Garage Clerk
Summary: The Garage Office Clerk will support the in-house fleet operations of a wholesale distributor. This role involves maintaining fleet records, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
Garage Clerk Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain detailed records of fleet vehicles, including service schedules, warranty information, and registration documents.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to distribution operations.
- Monitor fleet usage and recommend optimal deployment strategies to improve efficiency.
- Track and report on fleet expenses, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and insurance premiums.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Assist in the procurement of new fleet vehicles and the disposal of retired ones.
- Liaise with drivers to address concerns and gather feedback on vehicle performance.
- Implement and oversee a fleet management software system to streamline operations.
- Prepare and analyze reports on fleet performance and suggest improvements.
- Support the distribution team with administrative tasks related to fleet operations.
Garage Clerk Skills Required:

Garage Clerk Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in fleet management or logistics is a plus.
- Experience in fleet management or a similar role within a distribution or logistics environment.
Garage Clerk Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Exposure to low and high temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, noisy environments, hazardous conditions, and poor ventilation.
- Must possess visual acuity, including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
