DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER: Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region.  Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions. 

Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting function in the preparation of timely and accurate accounting records.  This role has direct reporting to the CFO and daily interactions with senior leadership and department leads.  The Accounting Manager must have solid communication, technology, and management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and monitor all accounts and ledgers ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards
  • Supervise general accounting operations, taking ownership of accounting accuracy, reporting and process oversight
  • Ownership of key areas including Cash, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Prepaids, Accounts Payable, Sales, COGS, Rebates, and Operating Expenses
  • Record monthly journal entry financial transactions, ensuring they have proper support/documentation to substantiate the entry
  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements as part of overall support of the treasury management process
  • Lead month-end close procedures ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks while continually identifying ways to optimize the close cycle
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with cross-functional departments such as Sales, Warehouse, Transportation, Purchasing and FP&A
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue and disbursements
  • Monitor and identify issues at the item level related to sales profitability, pricing, and rebates and properly report these issues to appropriate department leaders
  • Support the FP&A department in the analysis of monthly results, reports, data analytics, investigation, and explanation of performance
  • Hiring and training accounting team members while developing and supervising department tasks
  • Assist with the enforcement of internal controls in order to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel including advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and data analysis tools 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present financial data clearly and concisely  
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and accurate in preparing and reviewing financial reports and statements  
  • Familiarity with inventory management, cost accounting, and logistics best practices  
  • Ethical, professional, and committed to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:   
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration (required)
  • 7+ years of related Accounting or Auditing experience (required)
  • Certified Public Accountant designation (preferred)
  • Intermediate level expertise in Excel (required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 20 pounds.  
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.  
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.  
  • Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust.
