It will be the Router’s responsibility to implement the agreed upon routing plan utilizing Roadnet software packages, AS400 and associated utilities in the generation by adjusting efficient delivery routes, utilizing key personnel, to assign delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines and routes that adhere to hours of service and weight laws and regulations, while still maintaining a timely and acceptable level of customer service, quality, and satisfaction within established delivery windows.  Bringing issues to the attention of the lead router, manager, and others on the team in a timely manner, working with the shop, warehouse, and yard jockeys to facilitate a timely dispatch.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a second shift position, starting at 11 am. 

 Route trucks daily to ensure customer delivery windows are met. 
 Verify that unassigned stops fit within the parameters of the planned routes. Including   verifying that new customers have been implemented seamlessly into existing routes.
Provide feedback and suggestion in the routing meeting or chat so that the team can make a collaborative decision.
When issues occur, loop in the correct parties. Being a back up to breakdown and accident recovery process.
Analyze existing routes for opportunities to reduce miles, delivery days, and hours to improve cost control and consistency of deliveries. 
Plan and prepare reports, meetings, presentations for sales, management, and the executive staff to communicate proposed service areas and expense control opportunities
Be safety focused.
Be the back up to maintain truck list on a daily and weekly basis. 
Notify drivers of any changes to their schedules via phone call or email. 
Assist with solving issues within routes.
Check and update clock in and out time for drivers in AS400
Send out the nightly recap for the next day with the contingency plans for the morning dispatch
Other duties as assigned.
 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Previous Roadnet routing experience preferred, but not required.  

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

• Logistical knowledge. 

• Analytical/Mathematical Skills. 

• Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

• Route and Driver scheduling Data Entry Ability to collaborate within a team environment. Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 3 years of distribution, logistics, transportation, or related work experience

• Omnitracs and Roadnet application knowledge preferred
