DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER:  Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region.  Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.

SUMMARY: Our Accounting and Finance teams play an important role in keeping Feeser’s operating effectively and efficiently. From strategic work in the development of annual and long-range operating plans to establishing infrastructure that keeps financial transactions flowing efficiently. We are reliant on this group of professionals and the work they do each week, each month, each quarter. 

As a Senior Accountant on our General Accounting team, you will interpret and implement complex financial and accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning and control.  Support the general ledger closing cycle, fixed asset management, inventory control management, financial statement reporting, and projects requiring financial knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies and monitors compliance with corporate financial policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Ensures a high level of integrity is maintained within the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Assists in the development of budget, planning, and other corporate financial requirements.
  • Preparation and compilation of internal management review presentations and reporting packages.
  • Participates in month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger closing cycle and financial statement preparation and account reconciliations.
  • Assists in the preparation and coordination of the external compilation process by providing key reports and reconciliations to the independent accountants.
  • Responsible for preparation of the Statement of Cash Flows and various footnote disclosures.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries.
  • Maintains journal entry closing checklist and endure required documentation exists to support all journal entries, calculations, and account reconciliations.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares compliance returns and tax reports.
  • Recommends proper handling of financial transactions.
  • Reviews, investigates, documents, and assists in the implementation of accounting systems and internal control procedures.
  • Analyzes financial and nonfinancial information to identify trends or concerns, providing information to leadership to improve present and future financial performance.
  • Manages company wide sales margins (GP percentage, dollars, dollars per case and dollars by drop) and monitors daily sales reporting.
  • Makes recommendations to sales management on changes needed to improve margin results.
  • Manage and review commission set up for payroll.
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports and analyses in areas such as margin, operating expenses, budget variance, and statistical reports.
  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting processes and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership, which may include transportation and warehouse reporting, fixed asset reporting, lease administration, inventory cost analysis, administration of capital approval process, and G/L account setup and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a combination of appropriate education and experience. 
  • 2+ years professional experience in accounting with relevant experience and/or training. 
  • Position is full-time Monday – Friday. 
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
